WCK's Response to Wildfires in Reno, Nevada (Aug. 2026)
par WORLD CENTRAL KITCHEN INCORPORATEDWorld Central Kitchen is responding in Reno, Nevada, where the Hawk Fire has burned more than 15,000 acres and forced approximately 87,000 people in Reno and Washoe Counties under evacuation orders. As winds keep the fire shifting and unpredictable, families and first responders are without consistent access to food. WCK is working with local partners to make sure nourishing meals reach people in need.
WCK's ability to mobilize quickly in response to wildfires is the result of years of preparedness—pre-positioned equipment, trained response teams, and a deep network of local restaurant partners and community organizations ready to activate at a moment's notice. That infrastructure is what allows our teams to show up fast, cook at scale, and reach people in the critical first hours after a disaster strikes.
This response comes during one of the most active wildfire periods in recent memory. Earlier this month, WCK responded to devastating fires in Spokane, Washington. Over the summer, our teams concluded an extensive response to fast-moving wildfires across multiple regions of Spain. As wildfire season grows longer and more intense, WCK remains committed to showing up wherever communities need us most.
WCK is first to the frontlines, providing meals in response to humanitarian, climate, and community crises. When disaster strikes, WCK’s Relief Team mobilizes to the frontlines with the urgency of now to start cooking and provide meals to people in need.
By partnering with organizations on the ground and activating a network of food trucks or emergency kitchens, WCK provides freshly made, nutritious meals to communities impacted by disasters quickly and effectively. We know that good food provides not only nourishment, but also comfort and hope, especially in times of crisis.
With over 600 million meals served globally, WCK continues to bring relief, one plate at a time. Your donation today fuels this mission—helping us reach more people, faster, when they need it most.
